Deep Tissue Massage
A deep tissue massage is sometimes called a remedial massage because it aims to release chronic patterns of tension in the body which may be causing reduced mobility or pain. It usually concentrates on specific areas of the body and is sometimes uncomfortable to receive due to the use of direct and deep pressure on the site of tension.
As chronic patterns of tension accumulate over time it is usually unrealistic to expect these to be resolved in one session. I therefore advise clients to treat the problem over a number of shorter sessions rather than a single hour-long session. I may refer clients to their GP or an osteopath if this strikes me as a more effective treatment.
A deep tissue massage should not be confused with a firm massage. If you would like a firm massage that tackles muscle tension as well as leaving you relaxed, please choose a holistic massage and ask for firm pressure.
