What happens in touch therapy?
Therapy of any kind is a journey of self-discovery; the length and pace of that journey is personal to you so every session will be unique...
The sessions are structured in such a way that you feel safe and in complete control.
The first session is a chance for us to meet and for you to see if I am the right person to help you. We discuss your health, lifestyle and life experiences and what you'd like to achieve as a result of the therapy. We agree a treatment plan tailored to your specific goals. This will usually involve work that you do on your own between sessions, as well as the hands-on work that we do together. At the end of the session, there is no obligation to return if you do not wish to.
In most cases, a treatment plan will involve weekly or fortnightly sessions where we will work together to redefine your boundaries for safe touch and gradually improve your tolerance of touch. You may also be given exercises to practise in your own time to consolidate the work we do together. These sessions last for 50 minutes.
Everything that happens in these sessions is treated in the strictest confidence. As I am not a psychotherapist or counsellor, it may sometimes be helpful to disclose some elements of our work together to other healthcare professionals looking after your care. Any such disclosures will be discussed with you in advance and your consent explicitly sought.
The fee for the initial session is £80. and thereafter £60 per session. The fees are payable in advance in blocks of a minimum of four sessions.
